Stakeholder meeting 1, May 11th 2010, European Parliament

Hosted by the STOA (Science and Technology Options Assessment) Committee the meeting was broadcast live from the European Parliament on May 11th between 14.30 and 18.30.

FUTURAGE has responsibility for creating the definitive Road Map for Ageing Research which is intended to guide European research in this field over the next 10-15 years.

This workshop is intended for national and regional research policy makers and funders to introduce them to the first stage in the development of the Road Map and to ensure that their views are fed into the consultation process.

In the morning, the workshop consisted of presentations from the first round of national consultations and scientific priority setting across four themes – biogerontology, social & economic resources, environments of ageing, healthy ageing - and open discussion, held at the Renaissance Hotel, Rue du Parnasse.

The afternoon was spent at the European Parliament, hosted by the STOA Committee. This workshop focused on the importance of ageing research for Europe’s future.

Participants had the opportunity to contribute, at an early stage, to the development of the definitive Road Map for Ageing Research in Europe.
